Ants, No rain, and thank goodness for back to school sales

One thing normally leads to another, specfically meaning the fact that we've had no rain, my front yard has cracks in it and the ants are looking for water, or food or maybe both. Either way they decided to launch an all out attack this morning. Those of you (all 2 or 3 of you) that have read my blog since '04 know that I have this ongoing battles with the tiny little six-legged creatures.

It probably doesn't help that we've hit record high temps here in the last few days. I think 104 was the biggie yesterday. I told hubby I wasn't leaving the house today. The horse was going to have to clean out his own stall. I seriously considered leaving it for my daughter who I'm told has been having a lovely time at the beach. Such a lovely time that she hasn't been able to call her mother. Oh, she has talked to the man in her life, meaning her father, but she is much to busy for me. Ha! We'll see how busy I am when she wants to go shopping when she gets back. (Maybe I'm over exaggerating a bit--maybe. But I'm a mother and I'm entitled.)

Have been working on the next draft of my young adult and jotting down notes for another book I want to write. It seems the flood gates have opened in the last few weeks. I have book that I want to write for my mother about her and her sisters, with a little bit of fiction thrown in for good measure. I've started notes already. It will probably take three years for that project to reach fruition.

But other than that I happened to be in Target yesterday and stop my heart but they had composition notebooks 2 for a $1.00. I LOVE LOVE LOVE composition notebooks. But they have to have that wide ruled grayish white paper not the bright white paper. Writing in pen is so much fun on 'that' kind of paper. Yes, I'm a paper snob. What can I say? I'm also impulsive and I bought six of them! Gah! I went crazy. I bought pens too. I didn't realize until I got home that perhaps, I should've been buying supplies for my daughter. Shrug. She still has lots of supplies from last year! Hee!

Oh, oh, and another thing! Yes, I bought Eclipse when in Target yesterday too! Boy, do I love a hot and heavy romance triangle. Chant it with me now. Edward, Bella, Jacob! I do have to admit that so far Edward is kinda getting on my nerves a bit. It's how do you say it OBESSIVE? LOL. And maybe that's to be expected but if anyone ever treated me like that at 18 I would've told them to hit the high road. But then again, that's me, ultra independent individual. So you must always take the things I say with a grain of salt. Except for the ants.

The ants must DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See you guys in a bit.

Oh and by the way: I finished Chapter four! Woot! Only forty more to go! *snort*

Celebrating new found freedoms...
Well, here it is, a picture of my clean kitchen. There is still more to do, but I'm very pleased. Very pleased indeed. Now I have to tackle the upstairs. Wish me luck! I'm going in!

P.S. The cursed ants are BAAAAAAAAACK!

I hate Ticks...

I’m trying to do better with my posting on both my personal blog and the Wild Hearts blog. But first I have to tell you! OMG! I got bitten by a tick! Yuck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot remember how long it’s been since I got bitten by one of those yucky things. I was sitting here and I reached over to scratch my back and felt this bumpy thing. Before I knew what it was I had yanked it out.

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

Once I realized, of course by holding the little creeping bloodsucker in my fingers that it was a tick I was like crap! What do I do with it now? Ugh! So I did what I always do with icky bugs. I flushed him down the toilet. Flushing bugs is always a best resort in my opinion because I figure if they can live in the sewer then more power to them, as long as they don’t come creeping back up into my house.

I love spring time but I hate the bugs and if you live in the Southeastern United States you have to deal with the bugs. At least here in North Carolina I don’t really have to deal too much with roaches. If you live in Charleston, that would not hold true. I guess that every place has their minor irritants but most of them don’t fly at you, and are afraid of you. Here in the South our roaches were brought up on Raid, it’s their adult beverage of choice. The only thing that works efficiently is the bottom of your shoe or final net and a match.

At least I haven’t had to deal with the ants. Oh wait. Let me knock on some wood cause if it starts raining they are sure to come out of hiding.

Book progress is for the birds this week. I did some re-writing and some plotting this week. (Which means I didn’t do what I wanted to do) However I did add another 1032 words to my current young adult. Yay me right? Well, hey the way I’m going by the time my kid graduates college I should be done with the book. LOL. I shouldn’t say that, I haven’t really been working on it that long.

Okay folks. Enough chit chat from me tonight, I’ll check in with all of you later!

Tootles!
I’m out.

P.S. The picture? (He is just cause)

P.S.S. I do really LOVE LOVE LOVE my new blog. Must remind myself to send Ms. Zoot a letter of thank you for making these templates available for free! She is ze bomb diggity!

Dare I say it?

I think the sun is shining. I know, I know, it's so very hard to believe but I'm going out on a limb here to say that I see that beautiful ole sun breaking through the clouds.

So, what's going on in my life?
The cat is in heat because I keep putting off having her fixed and she is driving the dogs nuts. The ants are back, of course because of the rain, and I've had to get out my Raid gun on them. Not that that really stops them for long. They are very determined creatures I swear. How I ended up living on the biggest ant hill in North Carolina is beyond me.

I've been scrapbooking. (love to scrapbook) and I would take some pictures but of course I cannot find the camera cord for my digital camera so I have all these wonderful pictures that are stuck in my camera. I couldn't find my head unless it was connected to my shoulders. My DD (dear daughter) has had a friend over for two days. This is the same friend that broke her elbow in three places by falling off of a horse. (craziness) So she has a pink and purple cast that we've all signed. She's just mad cause she can't ride.

My house is still marginally clean from my visit from the boys a week ago which is a miracle unto itself. It's so easy to keep a house clean once it is clean. But boy let it go and you've got your hands full.

Currently reading No Rest for the Wicked by Kresley Cole. Or it's next up I should say after I get my reading for study done. I have a couple of books up on my nightstand but I can't really say any of them have grabbed me by the knickers yet. Maybe I'm in a reading slump? The books I've read are good, but for me, they just haven't given me that "heart racing, blood pumping, OMG I have to stay up til three a.m. to finish it" kind of thing. And I want to feel that way. I really do! I'm waiting for it. Honest. So hopefully it'll hit me here soon.
